The CPCS A61 appointed person lifting operations course is intended for those who have been assigned day-to-day responsibilities for lifting operations planning. This course is designed to teach candidates how to carefully plan a lifting operation in order to ensure legal compliance and the health and safety of all employees and those who may be affected by their actions. This five day course will prepare candidates for the role of appointed persons as part of the lifting operations team by providing them with the essential skills, information, and training. This training is designed for supervisors and managers who are in charge of lifting operations, as well as those responsible for lift planning and approving safe systems of work for lifting activities. This course primarily focuses on mobile crane operations; however, extra short-duration modules are offered to expand expertise to include tower cranes, crawler cranes, excavators used as cranes, and so on.
This cpcs course consists of four days of training followed by CPCS theory and one day for practical exam. Candidates who pass the exam will be issued a red CPCS Trained Operator Card that is valid for two years. To convert their red Trained Operator card to a full five years blue competent operator cpcs red cardholders must complete the required NVQ.
